February 5, 2008
Dear Friends,
It will soon be daylily season. I always look forward to each
new season hoping that it will bring lots of surprises and joy
from our gardens.
Last year we saw extreme drought and sagging sales yet our bloom
season was very good. We were shocked at how good rebloom was
considering heat and drought.
Crinums put on a great display but many
were after the daylily season. The new crinum bed should be
well established and we have great expectations for a great show.
We have lowered prices on many of last year's new introductions
so expect some great prices on some nice clumps this season.
We have moved many new plants from the stock fields to the sales
beds so expect some great new things.
The Historic Haywood Folk Art Museum has an exhibit with many new
pieces and we hope that you will save time for a stroll through it.
Holly Hill Daylily and Crinum Farm is open to the public only
a few weekends each year. Those dates are posted below for 2008.
Holly Hill is proud to display and sell many of our new
daylily introductions along with prior ones and several new
introductions from Iola Peed-Neal of Oxford, NC. These
daylilies have been selected for their rugged garden in
performance central North Carolina as well as for their
beauty.
Garden art is selected for humor and whimsy. For images and

17th Annual Daylily Festival and Sale
(our 28th year of growing classic and collectible daylilies)
See more than 3 acres of daylilies and display gardens. Again we will
display and offer for sale some new Holly Hill daylily introductions,
some selections from Rev. Lynn Anderson of Lakeview SC, and of course
some exciting new daylilies from Iola Peed-Neal of Oxford, NC.
We will have the usual Crinums, Verbenas, Red Hot Pokers, and
assorted perennials available in pots. Reblooming daylilies will
be tagged in the field with an orange tag for your convenience.
We will also have farm fresh eggs for sale from our amazing flock
of interesting classic as well as unusual and rare breeds of poultry.
(Please note that no visitors will be allowed in any of the poultry
enclosures for protection of visitors as well as the birds.
Thank you for observing this important regulation.)
(we recycle egg cartons and plastic grocery bags)
Who knows where our aging Snow White and companions will be by summer!
